As a family photographer in Montreal, I’ve had the privilege of photographing many beautiful family moments for families visiting our vibrant city. Whether you live here in Montreal, or you’re just coming through, there are so many amazing places to visit with your family!
Here are some of the best places to explore in Montreal – most of these happen to also be perfect spots for your family photoshoot!
1. Old Montreal (Vieux-Montréal):
This historic neighbourhood is full of charm and character. Stroll along cobblestone streets, visit Notre-Dame Basilica, explore the Old Port, and enjoy the unique shops, restaurants, and galleries. This historic neighbourhood offers a captivating atmosphere that makes for stunning family portraits. A family photoshoot here will immortalize your cherished moments against the backdrop of cobblestone streets, vibrant murals, and charming cafes.
2. Mount Royal:
For breathtaking panoramic views of the city, a visit to Mount Royal is a must. As a Montreal family photographer, I highly recommend capturing the joy and connection within your family as you explore the park’s winding trails and picturesque landscapes. The natural beauty of this iconic landmark will provide a magical setting for your photoshoot.
You can hike or bike to the top and relax in the park, or visit the famous St. Joseph’s Oratory located nearby.
3. Plateau-Mont-Royal:
The Plateau-Mont-Royal neighborhood is renowned for its vibrant and artistic ambiance. With its colourful houses and bohemian atmosphere, it’s the perfect backdrop for a family photoshoot that exudes creativity and individuality. As you explore the trendy streets, capturing candid moments of laughter and love, your family’s unique personality will shine through in the photographs.
Take a leisurely walk along Mont-Royal Avenue and explore the local shops, art galleries, and street art whike you’re here!
4. Biodôme de Montreal:
Located in Olympic Park, the Biodôme is a unique attraction that recreates four ecosystems found in the Americas. It’s a fascinating place to observe animals, plants, and learn about biodiversity.
5. Jean-Talon Market:
Immerse yourself in Montreal’s culinary scene by visiting the Jean-Talon Market. This bustling open-air market offers an array of fresh produce, local delicacies, artisanal products, and more.
6. Montreal Museum of Fine Arts:
One of the most prominent art museums in Canada, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts features a vast collection of international and Canadian artworks. It’s a must-visit for art enthusiasts.
7. La Fontaine Park:
Located in the Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood, this urban park is perfect for a leisurely stroll or a picnic. It features walking trails, ponds, beautiful gardens, and even outdoor theater performances during the summer.
8. The Underground City:
Known as the “RÉSO,” Montreal’s Underground City is a vast network of tunnels and interconnected shopping centers, hotels, and office buildings. It’s a great place to explore during cold winters or rainy days.
